What We Do
Our mosquito technicians are certified by the State of Utah Department of Agriculture and Food in pesticide usage, as well as mosquito and vector identification. Along with inspecting wetlands for mosquitoes, we also locate new mosquito breeding sources and treat producing mosquito sources by means of physical, biological and/or chemical means.
Mosquito breeding sites, which includes stagnant water found in natural occurring wetlands along with man-made sources, are inspected by the District for mosquito production. When these sites are found to produce, they are routinely checked, monitored and treated by our technicians on a weekly basis.
CO2 Traps and other means are used to gather information on the number of and species of adult mosquitoes in a given area. West Nile Virus is monitored each week using in house ramp tests and the State Health Lab PCR tests.
The objective of our program is to control or eliminate existing mosquito breeding sources in order to protect public health and comfort.
